Updates! Plus, Coral + Gold, Again.

There is so much going on in the world of Polished PR! Over the weekend, I participated in the #ShareTheLove movement on Facebook, sharing other nail bloggers’ Facebook pages with my fans, while other bloggers shared my page with theirs. By Sunday evening, Polished PR reached over 1,200 followers! I am utterly amazed and extremely grateful to be a part of such a supportive community.

I have to admit, though, that I’m a little behind in my blog posts—two manicures behind to be exact :( But I will be updating the blog this week. Then, over the course of the next five weeks, I will feature a series of ten special posts (HINT: They’ll ALL be about the glitter, shimmer and sparkle).

Okay, so first up:

Last week, I was in the mood for some vibrancy, so I reached for the first color that came to mind—coral. Hazard, from Sinful Colors, is my usual go-to coral polish that I’ve featured frequently in my blog. And what better color to pair two coats of coral polish with than gold? I used two coats of Ladylike Luxe from Ciate for the accent nail:

I’m still not over the rush of adrenaline I got from watching Polished PR grow over the weekend. I have a giveaway coming up very soon, so stay tuned! xo

Graduation’s Just Around The Corner

As I type this, I’m not so sure whether or not I want to keep it short. I have a lot to say, reflecting on this past year and the things I’ve learned– but I’m thinking I may keep it bottled up just a little bit longer for a post when graduation actually does come and go ;)

Earlier in the month, A and I planned to arrange a graduation photo shoot for me, which we ended up doing this past Sunday. My university’s colors are green and gold, so naturally, I prepared for the shoot by painting my nails a gorgeous green tone from H&M– Lady Luck:

photo 1

Such a rich, metallic color– H&M nail polish is officially up there on my list of new favorite brands :) To incorporate gold, I added simple stamping using Luxe by Orly:

As for those photos, I’m so impressed with how they came out! A is such a natural with a camera, and I managed to steal a few that looked great unedited:

I can’t wait to see how the others turn out after some editing! Only three weeks left until graduation (two, if you consider Thanksgiving week)– before, it was something to look forward to in three months. Now? It’s SO REAL :O

Autumn-Inspired Guest Post: Elektra King

Happy Monday to YOU! Here’s your third guest post of the month, brought to you by Elektra from the self-titled blog, Elektra King. So, you know that moment when you meet someone, and you just fall in love with him/her? That’s basically how I felt when I first started following Elektra’s blog, as well as her Instagram. I’ll keep this short because I could go on and on, but not only does she cater her blog to her fellow German nail-lovers, she translates into English for American followers like me! Her nail shape? Perfect. Her nail length? Perfect. Her nail designs? Okay, you get it. I’ll let her take it away with her “falling leaves” design:

Hi everyone! I’m so excited to be here today to show you my autumn-inspired manicure creation. I want to say a big thank you to Jenn for having me here today and giving me the opportunity to show you my design on her beautiful blog!

I started out with 1 coat of OPI Glints of Glinda, a nude jelly. Then I sponged the olive green shimmer polish China Glaze Agro onto half of my nails towards the tips. I am totally addicted to the coppery brown glitter polish Crunchy Leaves by Girly bits! It’s Fall in a bottle for me! So I just had to include it in this manicure :-) With the polish brush I dabbed the fine glitter of Crunchy Leaves on the nail tips and sparsely spread it downwards for a better gradient effect. I continued with 1 coat of Essie As Gold As It Gets, a clear top coat with gold flakies, followed by 1 coat of the glitter polish OPI The Living Daylights and finally I added another coat of Essie As Gold As It Gets! Done! :-)

I hope you guys like my design! Thanks so much for looking! And again thanks to you, Jenn! :-)

Love, Elektra

I long for the day when I can produce photos of my nails like hers. Thank you so much for contributing, Elektra! Your design is so reminiscent of fall, I may just have to do a re-creation of it if I get the chance :)

Quickie Post: Enrapture By Revlon Brilliant Strength

This post is a little overdue– I apologize! I’m starting to develop a preference for swatching polishes over doing nail art…I think I’m a little wiped out in the creativity department right now. So after next week’s Halloween nail design post, I’ll be choosing some pretty colors to swatch and show you :)

This past week, I was in a pink/purple kind of mood, so I settled for Enrapture, a beautiful metallic, light wine color from Revlon’s Brilliant Strength line.

I adore this color, and have become such a huge fan of Revlon polishes. I’ve always sworn by Revlon Colorstay polishes and was hesitant at first about the Brilliant Strength line because I didn’t want to be disappointed. Not disappointed at all! :D

Quickie Post: A Little Fall Embellishment

I recreated last week’s manicure with a subtle hint of burgundy, fall color– Florida is just now starting to experience somewhat fall-like weather, with lows in the upper 60s, but still with highs in the upper 80s :( As I was putting together my outfit for Monday the evening before, I thought, “Forget this weather– I don’t care if it’s fall or not, I’m going to wear my fall-colored accessories!” So I brought out my Guess burgundy suede heels and added a little color to my gray-and-white mani.

It’s a super simple mani, but I am loving the pop of color :)

Quickie Post: LA Colors Unnamed Metallic Gray

I was going to swatch the other From Love With California polish named Beachaholic and do today’s post surrounding it, but the results were just too emotionally painful, and it was honestly not even worth posting photos of. That bad, you ask? Absolutely. My reaction was pretty darn close to Holly’s in her latest YouTube video Nail Polishes I Regret Buying.

So, as I removed the polish in frustration, I figured that I would instead swatch another polish from the LA Colors Color Craze Modern Metallics collection, since so far those polishes have been very promising. The unnamed metallic gray did not disappoint! Again, this polish was not as sparkly as the unnamed green, but would make for a great matte design, something that I’ll have to try in the future.

This time, I settled for a sort-of skittlette, doing some random flower petal-ish designs on my middle and ring fingers:

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend! xo

Quickie Post: LA Colors Unnamed Metallic Blue

Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend so far :) I’m still waiting for this Florida weather to get to fall status– for the past three days we’ve been experiencing rainy days, and today is the first day where it’s at least somewhat sunny. It still doesn’t meet the requirements for fall in Florida, though!

All the rain and clouds from the past couple of days made me want to do a blue mani, which was the perfect opportunity to pull out and swatch that unnamed metallic blue polish from the LA Colors Color Crazy Modern Metallics collection that I found at Ross last week. It wasn’t as shiny or metallic as the green, but still a beautiful color nonetheless. To add some rain-like design to the swatch, I added some Shany geometric stamping in Sinful Colors’ Sweet Nothing:

Updates + OPI Liquid Sand: Baby Please Come Home

Hellooo, beautiful! {Yes, you.}

I’m excited to share with you an update you on my weekend nail adventures and thoughts on my first time trying OPI Liquid Sand! On Saturday, A and I took my little sister out for some lunch and shopping, and stopped by this fabulous local nail supply place that my friend and fellow blogger, Mags Rags To Richestold me about. Talk about being in heaven! I was feeling a little guilty for doing unnecessary polish shopping, so when we did our shopping at IKEA, I purchased a cute storage item to organize my polishes with:

OPI Liquid Sand in Baby Please Come Home was one of my purchases from the nail supply store– it’s from the Mariah Carey Collection for Holiday 2013, and it’s a gorgeous combination of purple, silver and pink hues. I wasn’t sure if I’d like it because of my dislike for Crackle/Shatter, caviar beads and basically almost any textured nail concepts out there, but oh my goodness, I AM IN LOVE. Like, big much love.

I must emphasize, this was a single coat, with zero clean-up!

photo 2 (4)

So all-in-all, I am very pleased, and have to say that this was the best $4 I’ve ever spent in my life– I’m serious! Hopefully I’ll be able to go on another spree sometime soon to pick up more colors ;) xo

Quickie Post: LA Colors Unnamed Metallic Green

Happy Friday! Typing up a post really fast, since today is C-R-A-Z-Y.

On Tuesday, I was doing a little shoe shopping at Ross and stopped by the racks of beauty items to see if I could find anything worth purchasing– I always see fellow nail artists on Instagram find such steals on OPI, Essie, etc. at their local Ross stores, so I was hoping I’d get lucky.

Well, I personally think I did ;) I came across this 7-piece LA Colors metallic Color Craze set for only $4!!! To prevent any unnecessary spending on (and wasting of) polishes, I have this rule that I abide by where I don’t purchase multi-packs of polishes unless I love EVERY SINGLE COLOR. This particular purchase definitely met the criteria:

I swatched the metallic green last night, and oh boy, am I IN LOVE <3

If this is any indication of how the rest of the colors are going to look, I am wayyy more than satisfied with this purchase. Keep your fingers crossed for me! xo

Quickie Post: NYC’s Tudor City Teal

I can’t get enough of this color– I’ve used it as a base in plenty of designs before, but this time I decided to splash on a few coats on all of my nails and add some simple dotting with Orly’s Luxe, a new metallic fave :) It’s more of a seafoam green than it is a teal, but I think that’s why I love it so much! It’s such a tranquil color, it makes me think of relaxing on a hammock by the water, with closed eyes, listening to the sound of the waves settle onto the sandy shore.
