Quickie Post: LA Colors Unnamed Metallic Gray

I was going to swatch the other From Love With California polish named Beachaholic and do today’s post surrounding it, but the results were just too emotionally painful, and it was honestly not even worth posting photos of. That bad, you ask? Absolutely. My reaction was pretty darn close to Holly’s in her latest YouTube video Nail Polishes I Regret Buying.

So, as I removed the polish in frustration, I figured that I would instead swatch another polish from the LA Colors Color Craze Modern Metallics collection, since so far those polishes have been very promising. The unnamed metallic gray did not disappoint! Again, this polish was not as sparkly as the unnamed green, but would make for a great matte design, something that I’ll have to try in the future.

This time, I settled for a sort-of skittlette, doing some random flower petal-ish designs on my middle and ring fingers:

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend! xo

Mint Condition By With Love From California

I always get so excited when I find out that the clothing stores I shop at carry nail polish too! As you very well know, I’m a sucker for Love & Beauty polishes from Forever 21…they are fabulous, and make my shopping experience that much better ;) Last weekend while we were at the mall doing a little shopping, A wanted to go into PacSun to see if he could find nice shorts for his work-related trip to Cali. While he was doing his thing, I was looking around at the accessories and stumbled upon a small collection of polishes labeled With Love From California {how coastal & dreamy is that name?!} that were on sale for buy one, get one half off. I jumped on the opportunity to try something new, and picked out a pretty coral color along with a mint one as well.

Mint Condition is the perfect mint color, and surprisingly looks great against my skin tone considering that mint-colored apparel looks way too light on me.

I’d give this polish 3.5 stars out of five– although the color is fantastic, I dislike how heavy the polish is. It only took two coats to seal in the color, but the polish appeared sooo thick! And of course, I just couldn’t leave it alone this way, so after a day, I added some stamping using Toad-ally Amazing from wet ‘n wild’s Spoiled collection.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the coral color turns out better! I’ll have that swatch for you by the weekend or next week :)

Quickie Post: LA Colors Unnamed Metallic Blue

Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend so far :) I’m still waiting for this Florida weather to get to fall status– for the past three days we’ve been experiencing rainy days, and today is the first day where it’s at least somewhat sunny. It still doesn’t meet the requirements for fall in Florida, though!

All the rain and clouds from the past couple of days made me want to do a blue mani, which was the perfect opportunity to pull out and swatch that unnamed metallic blue polish from the LA Colors Color Crazy Modern Metallics collection that I found at Ross last week. It wasn’t as shiny or metallic as the green, but still a beautiful color nonetheless. To add some rain-like design to the swatch, I added some Shany geometric stamping in Sinful Colors’ Sweet Nothing:

Quickie Post: LA Colors Unnamed Metallic Green

Happy Friday! Typing up a post really fast, since today is C-R-A-Z-Y.

On Tuesday, I was doing a little shoe shopping at Ross and stopped by the racks of beauty items to see if I could find anything worth purchasing– I always see fellow nail artists on Instagram find such steals on OPI, Essie, etc. at their local Ross stores, so I was hoping I’d get lucky.

Well, I personally think I did ;) I came across this 7-piece LA Colors metallic Color Craze set for only $4!!! To prevent any unnecessary spending on (and wasting of) polishes, I have this rule that I abide by where I don’t purchase multi-packs of polishes unless I love EVERY SINGLE COLOR. This particular purchase definitely met the criteria:

I swatched the metallic green last night, and oh boy, am I IN LOVE <3

If this is any indication of how the rest of the colors are going to look, I am wayyy more than satisfied with this purchase. Keep your fingers crossed for me! xo

Sun-Kissed Fall

Don’t let the title of this post fool you– we are not experiencing fall weather whatsoever over here in Florida. But my thought was that if I did a fall-inspired manicure, maybe, just maybe, I’d be treated to a nice, cool breeze– it hasn’t worked yet though :'(

I chose two colors that remind me most of fall, Revlon Colorstay’s Cayenne and Pure Ice’s Taupe Drawer. I embellished Cayenne with a simple gold+glitter gradient (using Ciate’s Ladylike Luxe and e.l.f.’s Gold Star) and picked a pretty leaf stamp from Shany for Taupe Drawer’s accent nail.

The first day of fall is Sunday! Here’s to hoping for some not-humid, breezy weather :) xo

Craving Raspberries

This past week has been such a blur– I’ve only been getting 4-5 hours of sleep per night, but I don’t regret it one bit. I knew this semester was going to be a busy+fun one from the beginning, I just didn’t expect it to feel like such a rush (in a good way)!

This week has brought me a lot of great networking opportunities, which is fantastic because I’m finally settling into my comfort zone when it comes to introducing myself to people I don’t know and engaging in conversation with them. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to meet and speak with almost everyone in the marketing & community relations department at the hospital, as well as the new physicians joining us at All Children’s. I’ve fallen in love with this internship– it is the perfect mesh of my passions for health care and communications, I am so extremely lucky to be able to be a part of this team :)

When I came home from my internship, I figured I’d treat myself to a fresh mani, knowing that I’d be dressing up for the Industry Connections event hosted by Nielsen at my school the next day (today). I didn’t want too bold, but I didn’t want too plain either, so I settled for a raspberry-colored polish and added a gold accent nail:

It’s very simple, but I love the combination of colors– and I was really excited to be able to show off my chevron knuckle ring that I purchased from Forever 21 ;)

As for the Industry Connections 2013 event hosted by Nielsen:

If you’re not familiar with Nielsen, it is a New York-based company that specializes in global consumer and media insights– what you watch, what you buy– that info is all accumulated by Nielsen. As part of its university recruiting program, Nielsen hosted this event to encourage students to remain in Tampa post-graduation and introduce us to the local opportunities available to us.

I wasn’t able to stay for as long as I wanted to; I had to slip out to attend my government class, a 2.5 hour class, UGH. I was able to snap this great photo of the event’s panelists though, made up of impressive business leaders from around the Bay area:

Nielsen Panelists (L-R): Moderator Heather Kenyon (Tampa Bay Technology Forum), Marie Gutgesell (Nielsen), Jay Schroder (Raytheon), John Cappelli (Raymond James), Randy Pyle (Ernst & Young), Jennifer Tracy (Bright House), and Mark Jackson (Tech Data)

Quickie Post: NYC’s Tudor City Teal

I can’t get enough of this color– I’ve used it as a base in plenty of designs before, but this time I decided to splash on a few coats on all of my nails and add some simple dotting with Orly’s Luxe, a new metallic fave :) It’s more of a seafoam green than it is a teal, but I think that’s why I love it so much! It’s such a tranquil color, it makes me think of relaxing on a hammock by the water, with closed eyes, listening to the sound of the waves settle onto the sandy shore.

Quickie Post: Feeling Pink

Yet another quickie post?! I guess that’s what happens when you get back into the groove with school, work and internships.

It feels as if I’ve been using all the colors of the rainbow these past couple of posts…purple, nude, gold, gray, orange, yellow, green, blue, red– pretty much everything so far except for pink! Since I’m all about versatility, I thought it’d be nice to pull out those pinks and do a simple stamping project with them.

For the base, I wanted to use a light pastel pink, and chose Wet ‘n Wild’s Sugar Coat. For the stamping color, I used my favorite bright pink, Electric Fuchsia by e.l.f.

Quickie Post: Purple + Glitter

Another quickie post for you today– I got home yesterday after a long day of classes (8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m….not to mention, my last class was nearly three hours long!), and thought that a quick pampering and new mani was well-deserved. I opted for simple this time, pairing three coats of Ciate’s Cabaret with a single coat of Confetti’s Tazmanian Devil— I guess at this point I don’t need to remind you that it’s my favorite glitter polish, EVER, huh? ;)

I hope that you had a wonderful week, and have an awesome Labor Day weekend! I’m super excited, for tomorrow I’ll be picking up my new car from the dealership– weeeee! :D

First Week Of The Semester

Happy hump day! (Honestly, I never really liked how hump day sounded– but the Geico commercial with the camel in it made it cool again, lol.) I just wanted to upload a post about my nails this week, along with an update on my initial thoughts of how I think the semester is going to go.

As I mentioned in a past post, I met with the Director of Marketing for All Children’s Hospital on Monday to get the details of my internship sorted out for the semester. After meeting with her and getting introduced to the rest of the staff in the Marketing department, I am truly so excited to begin interning with all of the communications departments next week– I feel so grateful that my biggest opportunity comes just before I graduate :)

For this first impression, I painted my nails a simple, neutral color (Khaki by Love & Beauty) and donned my favorite blue lace dress, pairing it with some chocolate brown accessories:

Yesterday was my last first day of the semester! Instead of doing the V-shaped gold design over the nude base, I decided to just go with a simple vertical stripe instead (with Luxe by Orly). And how convenient, for it ended up matching one of the notebooks I purchased for this semester– hah!

So far: I think this final semester is going to be absolutely fantastic :) I have the opportunities to let ME shine through, and I hope that I am able to find myself a job I am in love with by the time that I graduate.

Hope you’re having a wonderful week yourself, so far! xo
